Cattaraugus & Allegany County, New York
Cuba/Communal
FEMA, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and Allegany County officials hosted a flood risk open house at Cuba Elementary School on June 16, 2026. The informal, drop-in style meeting let residents talk one-on-one with officials about local flood risks, possible changes to floodplain maps and how those changes could affect flood insurance requirements and rates. No formal presentation was given, and attendees could arrive and leave at any point during the several-hour session. The event follows a history of flooding concerns in Allegany County, including a state of emergency declared in the area in 2025.
